vRS TSI Engine Cover

Featured Replies

Evening all.

Is there a reason why Skoda changed the engine cover on later models of the vRS TSI from this…

…to this?

At a guess I’d have thought it’d be cost related across all VAG models with the same engine. Unsure if there is a technical reason behind the change.

Maybe?

might have led to a review of all covers?

I suspect the change was to reduce costs by having a standard part that could be used across a wide range of VAG cars. And I think it was the new one that generated the safety recall by becoming detached and overheating at the back of the engine (but the Karoq was exempt from the recall for some reason.)

I've a suspicion that the recall just removed the engine cover completely rather than change the mounting catches, and current cars may not have one fitted at all.
