2011 model Skoda Laura

Featured Replies

Hello Everyone,

I recently acquired a 2011 Skoda Laura, and I'm interested in diving into some advanced diagnostics and customization. To do so, I need access to the DBC (CAN database) files for this vehicle. I've been searching high and low but haven't been able to find them. Does anyone here have access to or know where I can obtain the DBC files for the 2011 Skoda Laura? Furthermore, I'm looking to identify the CAN bus speed for my vehicle. Can anyone guide me on how to do this or suggest a reliable method or tool to determine the CAN bus speed for the Skoda Laura 2011 model? Will VCDS tool help me find the CAN bus speed?

The CAN bus speed depends on which of the CAN busses you mean - there are many e.g. Powertrain CAN, Infotainment CAN, Comfort CAN, Extended CAN, ...

What do you mean by DBC file?

Hey man! I have an OBD2 dev kit from seed studios which has a rpi2040 board and a gps in it. I'm trying to read CAN messages from the OBD2 port for which I need the CAN bus speed. And a DBC file is nothing but a CAN database file for a vehicle which contains the CAN message, ID's and etc... in a human readable format.

Thanks!

AFAIK Skoda don't publish the speed of the Diagnostic CAN bus, you'll have to use the trial and error method.

Any good tool should be able to "scan" the bus to select the correct baudrate automatically.

However, I'd hazard a guess that OBD port would be 500kbaud (powertrain modules, CEM, ABS) & infotainemt & comfort modules would be 250kbaud.

In the end there are only 4 common CAN speeds 125kbaud, 250kbaud, 500kbaud, 1000kbaud & the middle 2 are most commonly used in automotive applications.

Am I right in thinking a Skoda Laura 2011 is an Octavia Mk2 in Europe?

Yup it is. I tried all the speeds mentioned above but I couldn't get into the CAN bus using the OBD2 connector🙃
