USB C Sockets

Featured Replies

I know that the USB C socket by the rear view mirror which is for dash cams, cuts off power to save your battery when ignition is turned off.

Is this the same for the two sockets in front of the gear shift lever or are these permantly live?

I've Just plugged my mobile phone into one of the sockets with the ignition switched off and my mobile started charging, so I guess they are live.

Infotainment screen was off and phone was still charging from the usb port

Who thought that's a good idea to design it that way...?

Can't really see what the actual problem, (if any), is ?

I am I missing something ?

I bought myself a wireless carplay adapter to alleviate the need to keep plugging my phone in every time. However, if this socket is permanently live, it makes no difference. I still have to keep unplugging it.

You will drain battery if you leave any device plugged. It should be switched off once car is locked.
