How to replace air blower resistor

Featured Replies

Help

although my Fabia has a 2012 reg it appears to be an early mk 3, I need to replace the air blower resistor but my model is the type where the glovebox is moulded to the whole dashboard. Looking at previous forums on this problem one member was thinking about cutting the back of the glove box out with a dremmel , has anyone found a method of  doing this job .

7th and 8th characters in the VIN are the key to definitively identifying it if you don't know all the visual cues. Mk2 = 5J, Mk3 = NJ.

Can't help with the real question though, but identifying the vehicle accurately is always a good start.

If it seems to work as a technique, maybe pop a link in here?

Do you know for sure which resistor type your car needs? Climatronic A/C system has a transistorised thing with a metal heatsink, Climatic has a wirewound resistor. Not in the same place I believe.

Just completed job ,got the resistor pack off e bay for £ 10 seems to standard one for a lot of Skodas , bit tricky getting airbag out and did it without disconnecting battery ,bit stressful but will be a lot easier next time if it goes faulty again
