Cheers. That’s a relief then.

Someone that knows will help with the best to suit your car.

I would not have a AWD / Haldex car with a Space Saver or Steel Spare that saves space that does not have an identical Circumference / Total Diameter.

Near is fair enough on a FWD, as Skoda spares are.

You are driving a long way on this trip and maybe on other trips.    Is a like for like Tyre / Wheel possible?

You might have to slow because a bit narrower, different tread and put on the front or back, but you do not get the issues some have had with their Haldex Equipped cars

while trying to continue a journey with the Official Size SPACE SAVER.

I don’t think a full size spare would fit into the wheel well, from my limited research.

My Alltrack has AWD and a full size spare, so didn’t occur to me it could play havoc with the Haldex.

There are those that said it has not messed the Haldex, just disable CC / ACC. That is fair enough.

Others posted about the ABS / ESP issue with the Spare / Space Saver that came with the car and applying the brakes.

Someone said the car was trying to kill them.

But i think there were cars with AWD and the wrong space saver handed over to people.    Those that have experience of them will know,

& @Carlstonwill know which and what is what.

Just to add - I’ve just ordered a set of Canopus 19inch wheels to go on it as I dislike the standard L&K rims ‘Propus Aero’. I’m guessing taking one of the 19s with me to use as a spare is a nonsense given the different sizing…

Tyre pressures are on a plaque inside the fuel flap. I normally run the Octavia at Eco pressures - plus approx. 0.2 bar when on winter tyres.

^^^ Thats the last thing i would do with the OEM tyres unless summer / warm fully loaded or towing.

ECO Pressures, less grip / traction is the only way better fuel economy is achieved.

Doubtless @Tibbadogwill make his judgement on whether the ECO tyre pressure setting is right for him.

Ultimate grip or ECO to try and save a few quid?

The 280 is quite a thirsty thing, but if you wanted economy, you wouldn't have bought one.  😄

I run my Octavia on ECO pressure, and it grips just fine on my Goodyear Asymmetric 6 tyres. But I am a thrifty so and so.

You for sure don't buy a 280 for economy! That said, on a gentle motorway run it isn't totally terrible. I stick with the 'normal 'tyre pressures myself, a bit of grip is sensible in my view.

I specified mine with a space saver from new so I assume (rightly or wrongly) it is OK with the Haldex. The furthest I have driven on the space saver is maybe 150 miles (was a Sunday trip home and no tyre places that were open had the right size) and in spite of the constant 'ACC unavailable' warnings etc, no long term harm has occurred so far.
