VRS MK2 2012 Low compression

Featured Replies

Hello all.

My car has run into some issues (again).

Previously my exhaust valves had to be replaced and my head needed skimming. Now I have new issues.

64k miles 2012 Fabia VRS with the revised engine.

CEL and EPC light on. Very lumpy and misfiring. Replaced sparkplugs. No change. Did a compression test, extremely low compression on cylinders 2 and 3.

What is the potential issue here and what would be the potential costs? I have done some research and it could either be piston rings or cracked pistons.

Is there anyone in West Yorkshire that could recommend a place to get it looked at or a specialist. Is it worth repairing?

It seems that these engines are cursed.

Many thanks all.

Would suggest head gasket if low compression across two cylinders that are next to each other , also check for engine being out of time, wonder if engine builder took into account piston to valve clearance and compression ratio alterations when rebuilding if the head has been skimmed

It's stoneacre that did the last job and its them its with again as I have "warranty" with them. How much would I be looking at for the above you said?

I'd wait to find out what's wrong first before playing daft guessing games about munny.

I would bore scope it first before doing anything rash , I do find it hard to believe nothing has been with the injectors if you dropped / burnt out some valves , it’s pretty obvious your running too lean and burning up cylinders to me personally but that’s just my opinion ,
