Electric Issues

Featured Replies

Can anybody help?

I have a 2007 Skoda Fabia II with some weird electric issues.

On start up neither of the electric windows work, however if I unplug the door electrics on the driver side and plug them back in, both electric windows will work fine until I turn off the engine. Also, again on start up, my radio displays the "Phone" screen but after 10 mins or so the radio springs into life and starts working, again only until I turn off the engine. And lastly, when I put the car into reverse, the blower fans speed up just a little and then immediately return to 'normal' speed once I disengage reverse.

The car starts up and drives perfectly, I have checked fuses and the door wiring - no problems there. And the car has just had a brand new battery.

I am stumped.

Blower fan thing is normal, it's the car automatically switching to recirculation mode to reduce the chances of breathing your own exhaust. Tends to kill the servo motor eventually so that recirculation doesn't work when you want it to.

No idea about the radio.

Windows problem is probably your driver's side motor module failing.

Recirculation mode - very clever, I've never heard of that before.

Yea, I suspected the window problem might be a motor/module fault but was hoping it was something simpler. Do you know if the motor and module is 1 part or two separate parts? ie, would I need to replace the motor and module or just the module?

It's all one part, 6Y1959801 for a 2007 RHD mk2 with just front windows electric. Repair probably cheaper than replacement. See link in my signature.

Well, I've had the door card off, you were right about the part number. And yes, the part is more expensive than I thought. I couldn't find your signature or the link, I'm assuming it took me to an auto electrician who repairs these modules?

It's me that's offering these repairs. I'll start a PM chat with you shortly.
