272 Sportline Wheel Change

Featured Replies

Hi all, I’m after changing the wheels on my 272 to something a fair bit lighter (currently vegas) and would value some other opinions.

I’ve done a lot of searching on the net and for a while decided that black wheels weren’t for me, but more recently have come to like them, mostly because of this photo posted by @newbie69 some time ago.

My car is also a quartz grey hatch, which is helpful.
I wasn’t bothered about Pretoria’s either until recently but now quite like them. The only issue is they are very expensive and don’t seem very robust. In the last few days I came across the option of Audi R8 front wheels and like the weight (9.25kg) and the robustness (forged). What do people think? Look good?

Not sure if anyone is handy with photoshop?

I’m open to some other options if someone has any bright ideas.

p.s. Yes I know this isn’t a sports car, but there’s no harm in making it a little more fun to drive :)

Have you taken note of offset, width, bore size, pcd and such?

just to make sure they are suitable for your car

Hi, yes. R8 fronts are 19x8.5 ET42 with a 57.1 bore. Not exactly the same but should be a good fit (+8mm) without looking nuts.

The Pretorias used on a Golf R are with a 235/35R19 tyre - definitely more sidewall if fitting to a Superb.

Yes I imagine that they would hold up better on a superb given the extra sidewall. As per the imagine above, I think they look really good. If I could get a great deal on a set then that would be nice.

The draw with the R8 wheels is they are cheaper, lighter, stronger and give better stance (prets will need spacers). I just can’t make up my mind on how they’ll look.
