Reverse camera for the Skoda Kodiaq installing and coding help

Featured Replies

Hello, I would like to ask for a bit of assistance or guidance if anyone has experience. Let me explain the plan. I'm planning to buy a reverse camera for the Skoda Kodiaq from the website https://www.carsystems.eu/ (based on the VIN code) and try to install it myself. To be honest, in Estonia, they want 1200 euros for the installation, even though the camera itself is 350 euros. I have the skills and the desire to do it myself, and I also have VCDS (knowledge on how to code). Could anyone provide tips, instructions, or guidance on how to install it, and most importantly, how to code it to avoid any issues

The camera itself is useless, if it`s not connected to headunit and coded.

Instead of some Polish site I would look for recommended suppliers.

Kufatec for example:

https://www.kufatec.com/en/skoda/kodiaq/rear-view-camera-retrofit-for-skoda-kodiaq-ns7-41940

The set includes wiring harness and coding dongle.

Just make sure about headunit, if it fits the set. So many different variations, if you deal with VAG.

Kufatec in my opinion is overpriced rubbish.... they put a huge pricetag on things for no reason and a lot of what they sell including their looms ive seen be poor quality. The coding dongles i do not trust as you dont actually know what they are coding and making changes to.

carsystems.eu ive not dealt with personally and you havent linked exactly what youre buying?

Buy the genuine retrofit kit from skoda for around £300, you will need to code it ideally with SVM and ODIS but it can be done with VCDS/Obd11. You wont be able to calibrate the camera and will be left with a fault code though, just so you are aware.

I coded VIM with Kufatec`s dongle, worked perfectly. You must give them a credit, as they are the only ones on market to enable VIM. Which indicates the level of engeering in the company.

I suggested the Kufatec`s camera set just for the coding dongle.

Here you can get OEM set for cheaper:

https://www.skoda-parts.com/spare-part/566054634a-rear-camera-set-skoda-32794.html

Calibration I believe can be done manually with VCDS, at least it was possible for Superb with MIB 2 headunit.

Others can do VIM, for example it can be done with MIBash and VCP.

Calibration can only be done with the correct calibration board, the diagnostic software isnt the problem :)

VAS6350 is the correct calibration board. Without calibration wont necessarily cause an issue though.

Yes, for now probably lots of companies has copied the VIM solution. Back when I purchased the car Kufatec was the only one to add such a function.

Like obd11 is a clone (grey area here) of Ross Tech. They only offer solutions that VCDS already have. And very raw ones.

There was a thread in Superb II about calibrating - the whole procedure, including boards. Though the last ones I don`t remember if the parts could be printed or was there a whole solution for the board.

Just to add my tuppence worth. The OP has a 2022 Kodiaq which will have an MIB3 system but you guys appear to be talking about MIB2.

I bought the correct reverse camera and loom online, installed the hardware then had a VAG specialists wire it in and install the software. I believe you need the correct equipment to overcome component protection with MIB3.

Depends on the year and car to decide if the MIB3 is protected with SFD. Component protection isnt applicable.

MIB3 no ethernet is very similar to MIB2 but needs to be done with SVM. MIB3 with ethernet for cars such as mk4 octavia and golf mk8 is a different kettle of fish though.

A mk1 kodiaq with MIB3 will have no SFD and no ethernet is it needs doing with SVM but there is no component protection :)

How to determine if this product is suitable since the car was purchased in 2022(skoda kodiaq Facelift 110kw DSG4x4 (EU6)), and the initial registration is also on 07.05.2022?and The user manual for the car was released on November 29, 2021.

I think it`s best to send Kufatec (or someone else) an email with VIN code, they must know what suits and what doesn`t.

Another option is to buy camera with all the wiring and let local Skoda dealer to do the installation. Or you can install it yourself and let the dealer do only the coding and calibration.
