Enyaq IV80X SL - Clonking/ratteling sound underneath

Featured Replies

Hi guys, new here!

I have to let som steam of and I really hope that someone can relate and has a solution to this, because this f up my life right now..

Experience a disturbingly annoying clonking/rattling noise from underneath the car some where, it appears when I drive slowly on bumpy roads. Makes the car sound so freaking cheap..

The dealer made a first quick try to change the stabilizer bar, without any success. So they are going to continue the troubleshooting later I January, but I can’t stand the sound and hopefully someone here have some useful information for my dealer.

I put a link to the where I have filmed the problem and posted in a Facebook group without results.

Hi and welcome.

It could literally be anything. I don’t own an enyaq, so the following is just other stuff it might be.

* Broken spring

* damper is noise on compression or rebound etc.

* MQB platform all develop a knocking/creaking on manoeuvring, speed bumps. Might be a similar thing that develops.

* something lose in the underfloor area(don’t know if you share your car)

* foreign object, guessing they/you would of seen this.

Or something completely different ;)

the creaking on mine drives me nuts. Grease solves it for a bit. Hopefully they will figure it out with more time to diagnose. Till then eat mince pies and stay of the roads ;)

Welcome.

Video not much of use unless a member of that Enyaq Group.

?

Can you not go to a local garage with a mechanic and ask them to do a visual inspection without touching anything that might blow their socks off.

Thank you and thanks for the quick reply and great input.

Yeah I totally understand that it could be anything, but in my experience by now many Enyaq owners are experiencing a different problems and there is always a person who can relate 🙈

Yeah I sure hope so too…

Two things that seem to be fairly common with MEB platform cars. First is the front drop links can loose their bushes and end up knocking.  Changing the stabiliser may have been to address this possibility. The other issue has been with rear shock absorbers starting to knock due to an internal fault.

Oh sorry, thought it was an open group… I will try to upload to another platform.

Yes the dealer has booked it for two days actually in January, I know the owners and I’m responsible for all our cars at the firm I work for and we buy all our cars from them, so the dealer are real concerned about me/us.

Thanks for your input, I will surely take this to the dealer !
