Central locking

Featured Replies

Hi All (Skoda Octavia 2018)

when I set off driving the Central locking automatically locks the cars doors and windows. The panel also above the wheel says for me to check user manual. Is this normal or do I have to press the unlock button each time when I set off. Not happy with car locking self in case of accident. Is this a fault or can it be changed to me locking it rather than automatic. Also the handbrake feels very tight. Is this the case on automatics? Thanks for any help out there :)

Good morning Topcat, welcome to the forum.

There is an option in the settings menu for disabling the automatic door locking. Is the message you see something like 'Safelock - check manual' ? - I believe this is a warning that the doors will deadlock, - it's a reminder to disable the deadlock function if passengers are to remain in the vehicle if you lock it.

Mine is set to auto lock, which as @Warrior193says can be disabled in the settings menu. I do not get any message when it locks. Are you saying that the windows cannot be operated when the doors lock?

My handbrake is not tight.

I think the OP may be referring to the safelock message when you turn off ignition and remove the key.

I do seem to remember seeing that warning, but as mine always reminds me not to forget my mobile, maybe it can't display two messages at a time.

Can't open windows or doors when it automatically locks.  Then says check manual.

Also when handbrake on when put in drive it sets off. Is this the norm on a automatic

Have you found the options setting and set it for do not auto lock?

If you can't open the windows that is not normal. Suggest you get it scanned for fault codes.

I've never tried holding the car with just the handbrake, but maybe it just needs adjusting if this is something you want to achieve. There have been instances of the handbrake releasing itself after owners have left & locked the car.

The cell phone reminder is shown on the main infotainment display - the safelock message is displayed on the multifunction display.

I'll make a point of looking next time.
