Hello from north norfolk

Featured Replies

Hi all!

I have migrated from a VW GT TDI (3 door manual hatch) bought new over 20 years  and 192,000 miles ago to a 20 plate Octavia 1.5 tsi dsg Estate - my wife, now disabled, can't manage the clutch on a manual box. With "4 score years" approaching, distance touring where only 1 of us is physically able to drive the Golf ( we did over 2,000 french miles in September") was reason to change.

She is happy to select "D" and slither along smooth and seamlessly. I prefer to feel more "driver than being driven". I get the push the stick over, then nudge gears up or down, but despite what the owner manual says about " up or down from the steering wheel", are steering wheel paddles available on all mk 3 dsg cars, or am I searching for something not there on our car?

It's very early days ( day 2 in fact) and I'm suffering brain fade, studying the manual.

Happy New Year coming, for all
