Problems with side mirrors

Featured Replies

Hi All, thank you for having me here.

Recently got my Superb 2.0 TSI SEL. Lovely car.

Unfortunately I started to have problem with controlling my mirrors.

Sometimes everything works fine, sometimes I can't adjust or fold them manually. Left one would not go down while reversing or goes down and up like crazy.

It's quite random and drives me crazy.

Car still under warranty but I've been told straight away that if no fault diagnosed by technician they will charge me for diagnostic. I'd rather try to get some help here in case it's an easy fix.

I tried reseting mirrors by pressing windows buttons up but no joy.

Any ideas, please?

Many thanks!

Welcome.
When you say you’ve pulled the window buttons up, did you then continue to hold them up for a few seconds once the windows had closed?

That doesn’t make sense at all.

If car is still under warranty, they shall not charge you for diagnostic.

This being said, I hope the way they do diagnostics is not limitated to plug diagnostic tool and wait for software scanning result, because:

1) Diagnostic tools can’t tell all

2) othetwise everybody could be a garage owner… 🙄

Just one tip, change for another dealer. This one furiously looks like a stealer… 🙄

experienced the same.. diagnosed and no fault found too.. i found a solution - give a hard bang on the door card/the switch control.. for me it works..

read somewhere in this forum is contact problem with the switch.. but i lazy to remove to clean with contact cleaner

Too lazy to clean with contact cleaner, that’s the easy fix that you asked for in your post. Otherwise take to the dealer and let them sort it out or replace with a new item.

Yes, exactly. I did it several times. It did not resolve the issue so I guess it's the control switch😁

At least I'm not alone with this problem.... I would rather not give it a bangon the door in case I'll brake something else as well😬

I ordered contact cleaner and will have a go soon. Will update👍

Exactly my thoughts... How can you charge if warranty is valid??

Control switch issues will not show on the computer so it should be invastigation the problem prior repair rather just plug the diagnostic in. As you said, monkey can do it 🙈

Checked and most of the local Skoda dealers do this. Plus charge for courtesy car 😬

Fotunatelly I joined a forum of very knowledgeable people so I'm saved 😁👏😉

Hi Rafal78

Never had an issue with Barlow Motors Stoke regarding work. They will be one of your closest main dealers - have you tried them? If not give them a try

I've tried to sprayed the switch on Sunday morning and... it works fine😁

It's only been one day but on several trips yesterday and school run today is working good, mirror adjustment works as it should and it dips in reverse every time. I'll give it few days but I think I can comfortably say it's been fixed and I've saved myself at least £60 for the diagnostic 😂

Thank you guys for help, it is realy 'easy fix' 👍👏
