1.0 fabias.. Any good???

Featured Replies

Hi all looking for a car for my for my daughter and have seen a very reasonably priced 2019 fabia 1.0 for sale, was just wondering how are these engines, she's not going to be doing huge mileages and just wondered if there were any huge downsides to them... Thankyou

Maybe this is best in the Mk3 Fabia section.

You really would need to say which engine.

A 1.0 MPI, non turbo or a 1.0 TSI of whichever power output.

There should be no downside, but best check which engine so which gearbox as not all the same even as a manual.

Not all have disc brakes front and rear.

Trim will make a difference.  Best check the insurance and do not assume a MK3 Fabia so cheap to insure.

It's a 1.0 se mpi 26000 74hp 26000 miles and it's £8799

Hopefully someone with experience of those will be along.

That seems about as KISS as you can get and not basic spec.

No idea about the pricing of them, others might have.

How is the servicing look.

Spark plugs changed maybe, brake fluid changed, pollen filter, maybe even the air filter.

Is it FMDSH and actually a Full History of what was done and not just Servicing and not showing what serving?

Had 2 services, book stamped up

@tyreman1What was done at those services is what matters,

In it,s 4th year is that 2 fixed interval Oil & Inspection services, annual or maybe 1 at 1 year and another at 3 years and maybe the Extended Scope?

Or was it on Variable and a service at 2 years and one recently.

It is what gets done being recorded that matters and know what was not and you will need to be doing when you get it, or at the next service.

Having 4 matching tyres with good treads is nice or pairs matching.

Brake discs not too rusty, and if rear drum brakes it is nice if those were serviced.

It has a service book?

I have a Fabia III but with the 1.2 TSI engine.

I also have two cars with the 1.0 MPI engine. A Citigo and an UP.

One which my Daughter drives.

The insurance might be cheaper in the smaller Citigo/UP than the Fabia.

The MPI engine is good and willing but not fast.

Does she plan to drive a lot on hilly roads?

My Fabia III is a lot faster and better on fuel but is in a much higher insurance group.

Thanks. AG Falco
