Lost wheel nut key

Recommended Posts

Yet another of these threads I can almost hear you say.

Car is a 2012 Fabia 1.2 105.

Had a puncture in my near side rear tyre (2.3 Bar down to 0.8Bar) which I took for repair last Monday. Came out to look at it last Friday and it was completely flat. I took the wheel off (it was difficult as I'd parked the near side up against a wall and there wasn't even enough space to get the jack handle in, so I had to use a screwdriver to turn the jack) put 1 Bar in to check the tyre would re-shape, then took it back to the tyre repair shop. They could find no leak from the tyre after inflating it to required pressure and dunking it in the tyre bath then spraying it with leak revealer. Presumably, someone had let all the air out (sabotage).

When I got back, I couldn't find the locking wheel nut key; I must have left it on the bolt and driven off. Took everything out of the car, used a torch to look under the seats, door pockets, glove box etc. Looked all over the road where I park and on the main road, where I even found someone else's locking wheel bolt😒.

Here's a photo of one of the locking bolts;

Do I just need one of these, i.e. a 52/7pt as referred to on similar threads;

Have you checked in the polystyrene tools insert in the spare wheel, thats where they normally live.

That ebay listing is not suitable.

Several companies can help with a replacement locking key. Just need to determine the code which is simply matching your photo.

Possibly this one? 776 S

Thanks xman.

Just to be clear, I did use the wheel nut key to get the wheel off (twice) but must have left it on the bolt and driven off the last time.

If it is a 776, I was wondering about this listing, as my car came without any wheel nut covers (bar 5 left in the boot);

Looking at the bolts being sold as part of the lot, it does look very like mine.

The wheel nut covers that were left in the boot are part number 321 601 173 B and 4FO 601 173 A for the locking nuts.

Car came without any polystyrene insert but did have a spacesaver spare and an unused VAG tyre inflater.
