Clicking noise from steering

Featured Replies

I have a 2020 skoda kamiq 1.0l Recently I noticed clicking/ticking noise from the steering column
I can hear it when I make slow manoeuvres to the right or left or when I go over a small hump
I can hear it from behind the steering wheel and its really irritating.
I took it to a skoda dealer they replaced the intermediate shaft but still same any idea????

Heyo, @FWT, how did you resolve it?
I have the same thing now, and dealer suggested me to replace steering rack, which costs quite a bit.

Still not fixed

It's definitely not the rack

new intermediate shaft new rack and the noise still there

I pretty sure it's the steering column , my car still under warranty,  but stealer doesn't want to admit it they keep telling me it's normal .

Mate, go to war with them.

Your car is under warranty, there is a fault with it therefore they HAVE to resolve it.

DONT let them fob you off with the classic “it’s normal” line.  I’m on my second Kamiq and I can categorically say it is NOT normal.

So, you get hold of the Dealer Principles contact details (preferbaly email~easily obtained with some digging) and give it to him/her about how you will not go away until the problem is resolved.  At the same time you log an official complaint with Škoda UK.

Trust me, it WILL get resolved.

Never ever let these stealers off the hook, persue them until it is sorted.

They love you pre sale, and couldn’t care less post sale.

You’re welcome🙄

Thank you for your advice, just been flat out at work

I'll definitely follow up until they fix it

My daghtrr has a Fiat Panda. A few weeks ago I moved it and noticed a regular thumping noise on turning from lock to lock in both directiond. Turned out to be a worn bearing at the top of the suspension strut. May be worth looingat that area.

Na , the noise is definitely from inside the car, I believe it's coming from the steering column if I just touch the intermediate shaft with my leg the noise disappears

Hi, yeah fixed the problem was the steering column,  replaced under warranty,  no noise at all after replcement

Oh great, do you know which part as you can get the shaft part separately from the actual column now it comes in two parts

It's not the intermediate shaft,You need complete steering column
