USB-C ports in front centre console - switched or pemanent live?

Featured Replies

Are the two USB-C ports in the front centre console wired as a switched or a permanent live? I have a phone charging cradle that I want to connect  to one of those ports. The cradle has wireless charging built in, so it is always going to draw some power whenever it's connected to a live supply. If the port is permanently live, I don't want to leave a load connected to the car's battery (even a small load like this)  when the ignition is off but, likewise, if it's a switched live, I don't want to keep connecting and disconnecting the cable needlessly because eventually that is going to knacker one of the connectors in the cable, the port, or both.

Port are switching off a while after ignition is off and driver's door opened.
