Pikey Mod 1A - for members with patience

Featured Replies

So this means that there is a benefit in leaving IN the pikey mods after slipping down the slippery slope a bit and getting a proper FMIC??:D

Jason, you ejected prematurely!

Just out of interest ...has anyone got the older passat (same as the superb)......... has it got vents in the wheel arch for the intercooler?

ibiza factory pykey mod if anyone is interested, the pic shows approx half of the vent

How hard is it to fit an FMIC, and how much of a gain is there? And what car is the I/C and hoses from?

The aircon fan seems to pump hot air from the condensor through the intercooler

when you say through the intercooler do you mean past the external side of the fins or actually throught eh core of the intercooler as the latter isn't possible :)

Dude you might want to check the age of this thread this noob has resurrected

its not that old and as far as i can tell just about everyone that has posted in it is a current member and still active :)

Sorry, it isn't that old, I'm just incensed by the irrelevance of the question being asked and the dumbfounded by the lack of use of the search button :thumbdwn:

Very easy to fit a FMIC. Ask Beretta.

Better gain as in... holding the power better.

So i resurrected a 6 month old thread. Just like Basil did (post #24)

Didnt jump down this throat did you?

Don't Joke... I did! I drilled 234 5mm holes from one direction and noticed I had a small burr intercooler side, so I drilled them all again (6mm) in the other direction, so the burr would be tyre side!:o :P Now the air will flow easier from the intercooler, but dirt will get caught up on the burrs tyre side... genius or anal... you decide!

Chris

Genious! but maybe you have a little too much time on your hands

Y not cut a big square/whatever shape you want hole in it and mesh it up? wouldnt this be easier? Strong mesh isnt hard to find is it? - But yes i see this being a cheaper alternative.

How are you finding this so far by the way? Does it make your A/C any more effective also as I remember you mentioning it on the other thread?

I'm looking at doing this myself after seeing the stupid place where the IC resides. The sheer lack or correct air flow through it must hinder things somewhat.

Yeah, it's fine. To be honest this was done over a year ago so any benefits I am getting now will just be taken for granted :) If I remember there was less fade after a quick run or pulling off the motorway.

It takes 30 mins and it can't make things any worse!
