Estimated costs for repair?

Featured Replies

Just wondering if anyone has an idea of cost for the following work from a failed MOT.

Rear wheel bearing and anti roll linkage joint replacement.

Vehicle is an Octavia VRS 2010

Offside Front Anti-roll bar linkage ball joint excessively worn (5.3.4 (a) (i))

Offside Rear Wheel bearing rough when rotated (5.1.3 (b) (i)

Thanks for any help

Sorry no idea, but maybe others will have.

?

But where are you, Central London, or maybe someplace with places likely to be cheaper?

Does the place that did the MOT do repairs and give any quote on them doing the work?

Do you have a good independent garage near, maybe someplace you have ever used that can tell you what they would charge?

I had a rear wheel bearing done at Tyres & Motorway here in the Northwest a couple of years back - cost £165.  At the time Halfords were asking £225.

I nipped into the garage yesterday to see what they said. He reckons a bearing is about £50, the anti roll bush £15 and an hour or two labour.

I also think my rear shock absorber might need replacing as it's making a hell of a clattering sound on rough roads.

Nothing picked up on the MOT for that area though

You should always replace dampers in axle sets, not individually.
