will 16 inch steel wheels fit my 2012 superb 2.0 diesel estate? i want to get rid of those low profile tyres and alloys. 

Yes, some mk2 Superbs were built with 16 inch wheels

 

Official tyre size for them is 205/55 R16 94V

 

6J width rims had offset 50 (48-52 is ok)

7J width rims had offset 45 (43-47 is ok)

 

you need 5 bolt, 112 PCD (bolt spacing), with 57.1mm centre bore

The + (plus) or - (minus) 2mm difference in offset that wheel-size.com put in their listings is meaningless.

 

It wasn't long ago that wheel-size.com started doing this. The reason I suspect, is simply to cover themselves. For example, some cars use more than one offset for the same rim diameter.

 

Some European countries such as Germany are very strict on offsets, and changing the offsets by 2mm from the Skoda approved rim specifications is not ok (at least in Germany).
