Steering Wheel & Stereo Upgrade.

Featured Replies

Hello.

I run around in a 2015 that we recentlky acquired.

VIN: TMBEB6NJ3FZ020753

It has the basic steering wheel without the media controls - can this be easily swapped?
Is there wiring already there?

Does it require coding?

My stereo is a Swing Plus - I think?
I haven't been able to grasp it so far.
Can it somehow be updated to support Android Auto or MirrorLink?

Part number: 6V0035871

Hardware: 820

Software: 6230

Thanks beforehand for sharing your knowledge!

Steering wheel can be swapped but it's not a simple thing - it requires retrofit of gateway/bcm module, adding some wires and coding.

If you want to use Android Auto (MirrorLink is obsolete and abandoned) you need to replace your unit with a set of diaplsy unit, glove box unit (infotainment reader) and add extra harness. If you would like to get Apple CarPlay support then USB must be replaced as well.

Thank you.

I think I'll be sticking with what I have, then.

And I'll grab a basic steering wheel when this gets too worn (prev. owner was hard on it).
