2007 Roomster Pulling to the left! Help please 🙏🏻

Recommended Posts

Hi all.

I have a very annoying issue with Roo 🤦

Cut a long story short etc this is my issue....

• the steering wheel feels heavy and have to keep pulling it back into the centre

• the steering wheel dont seem straight when parked up and when the wheels are straight inline etc

• When you "let go" of the steering wheel she pulls to the left

• When you steer/turn left she feels lightIsh

• when you steer/turn right she feels heavy

• when I check the air pressure and make sure it's 38 all round the tyre pressure keeps coming on...

• I keep taking her to be tracked and it always comes back OK or "slightly out"

• bushes have been changed in December (again)

It's driving me mad and I worry its something serious and expensive and she will need to be scraped....😥

Any help and advice is much appreciated.

All the best

From

Sean.

Hi 'I', first, do you have any wear on the tyres ?

If not, try swapping the front wheels over, this will see if it's the tyres.

Hi, "I" 77, any updates yet ?

Hi NZ100 👋🏻

Update.....

Well this morning I noticed the NSF was flat 🤦

So I brought two fronts and had the wheel alignment done....

Went for a drive and even though the steering is lighter, she is still pulling to the left... 🤦 and the steering wheel is off centre..... 🤦

Again any help and advice is very much appreciated, as this is getting to me now.

All the best

Might feel differently on new tyres if the present set are nearing the legal limit.

Hi Sean, sounds like it needs to be put on a lift and all the steering checked, not only the front but also the rear suspension checked aswell.

Have you looked at the rear tyres for wear ?

What work was done immediately before the problem occurred?

I am betting a clutch change requiring the front cross-member to be dropped or work on the rear with the rear subframe dropped or removed.

If the car was like this when you bought it do you know what work might have been done before? Was it a Category S or Category N vehicle?

Pull a string line across the tyres on both sides of the vehicle with the steering wheel in the straight ahead position and then after moving the steering until the front wheels are pointing forward as best you can judge, this should reveal whether its the front or rear subframe that is misaligned.
