Oil and Service inspection due....

Featured Replies

Hi, and apologies if this is a silly question.

Just had the oil and service inspection due in 30 days pop up on my 2019 Superb.

Never had a Skoda before so is it a gentle reminder or will something drastic happen if I can't get it done before it counts to 0?

Welcome.

You will need to go over then if you can not get the oil changed.

Maybe do not go too long.   How long can affect an Extended Warranty if you have one.  If it was reset correctly last time the oil was changed.

?

When was it last Serviced / Oil change done?

Oil Services are either Fixed or Variable.  12 months / 372 days,  or 24 months / 18,000 -20,000 miles, so when was your last done?  Reset.

As to 'Inspection'  there is no just an 'Inspection'  that can be set the same as Service' so Fixed or Variable.

It’s only nagware so nothing drastic will happen.

Mine recently popped up and I reset oil and inspection myself as I’ll be doing it myself in summer time

That is all it is,  Notice of a Service / Oil change being due, Fixed or Variable.

But like this lease / motability car i was given the warning at around 18,500 miles and they could not service it for a month and by then it was over 20,000 miles

and even though it had oil top ups the oil was like (black) clotted cream by that time.

Cheers guys. I've had the car 10 months and it's nearly 12 months since the last service.

I'll get it booked in asap.

Normal I’d say. The oil in both the TDI’s we had looked like that a couple of ‘000 miles after it’d been changed! 😂

It was not normal though or i would not have bothered taking a picture or commenting, the Long Oil change by miles really had the oil like ****e from about 16,000 on from new.

It was really shot.

But the next oil change had just the usual black oil you get pretty soon with TDI,s.

I would not have left any car of mine like that but Motability owned it, the servicing is on Variable and they would not approve an early Oil & Filter change ans i was not doing it.

As it was it was only sipping Adblue by this time and the brakes were gubbed within 6 months of the car being new.

Standard values are 365 and 730 days depending if you have non LL or LL oil. I've never seen this "1 year +1 week" value after an oil service reset with VCDS.

Curious to know where you get this 372 value from. Maybe a specific case, I'm ignoring. TIA for sharing.

Note: Manuel reset also automatically switches the oil quality value to 'poor' (meaning non LL) if it was 'good' (meaning LL) before.

And it's quite a mess to set it back to 'good' with VCDS if needed.

372 days,   1 year and a week.  Allowing for PDI to delivery.  Just incase a holiday in a years time at dealership.

TDI,s only have Long Life oil.    Regardless of Fixed or Variable servicing. VW504 00 / 507 00, as was  them later VW508 00 / 509 00

(Fixed servicing TSI,s, VW502 00 can be used.)      That does not show once they went to VW508 00 / 509 00 though.)

The UK is not in km,s,  and when VW, Audi, Skoda or SEAT do convert km to miles they to not even all agree if the car will show, 9,300, 9,400 or even 9,600 miles.

Dealerships often just go on 10,000 miles when they speak about Fixed Service Regimes.
