Porsche bidding for VW

Featured Replies

I can see it now...... "did you know my 1.2 Fabia is really a Porsche?"

I think the VW/Audi claim has at least some grounding since all the parts in the car are marked VW/AUDI/Seat/SKODA :p

Anyway everyone knows that the 911 is just a tarted up old style beetle in a new suit :P

Not Inconceivable really, I used to have a Porsche powered Seat

and a Proton is really a Lotus ....

This story has been around now for a few months. VW apparently are ripe to be bought out by one of the big players (Toyota i think was one of the names mentioned??), this is just a way of strengthening the business by moving the family money around.

Skoda is one of the few parts of the group making a reasonable return on investment for VW.

bugger!! wont use that line then!

VW or VAG?

I know porsche bought some more share in VAG to maintain their supply of parts from VAG and to prevent another company buying them out.

If it's VW they can have them :P

Oh and proton bought lotus and you don't see lotus branded parts in a proton. A skoda to all intents and purposes is mechanically similar or the same as a VW/AUDI/SEAT as they share many parts from the same parts bin :P

Mr Porsche used to work for Skoda, how ironic

I'd rather Porsche owned more of VAG than have it sold off to some boring faceless company like Toyota or worse still, the yanks.

I remember those stickers "Systeme Porsche" or something:rofl:

What was that all about:confused:

I had a 1.2 SEAT Ibiza System Porsche

Porsche designed the throttle body and injection system on the fuel injected cars, mine was a carb one, they designed a slightly different cylinder head to the VW engine so hydraulic tappets could be used, the engine as it had been used in VW's had shimmed tappets.

Not a bad car by any means, my old boss at SEAT gave it to me to run back and forth to work.

Porsche had something to do with the engineering of the Favorit too IIRC.
