Water collecting in front doors

Featured Replies

My drive is sloped and I park facing downhill. Every time it rains, water collects in the front doors of my 2019MY.

I only know this because water pours out of the drain holes in the door bottoms when the doors are opened.

I presume its getting past the seal at the bottom of the window but the fact it happens to both front doors but neither of the rears makes me wonder if its something else.

Has anyone else noticed this or have an explanation?

Many thanks - Stuart

I get the same but opposite to you😕 .My drive is on a slope & I park facing downhill . I get the same thing but with the rear doors more than the front.
Water always will get passed the "seal" at the bottom of the window .
You than go for a while without opening a door & water collects , it seems to me that with the door  closed  the seal partially blocks the drain hole in bottom of door.
the rear & front  doors on my 17 plate have the drain holes @ the leading edge , maybe your 19 plate is different ?..

I had the same issue on my MK3 Pre-FL and if I recall correctly there was a newer seal version which costed a lot. So Just made few more bigger holes at the bottom part the seal and cleaned the factory ones. Never had such issues after that.

I have to mention also that my rear doors are often opened by the kids.

At some point each model section of this forum has similar posts.

Most common Fabia Mk2.  But it can be any model or generation of model.

Kamiq, Scala continue the trend with new ones but it can be a Karoq, or as here Octavia.  Maybe even Kodiaq and eventually Enyaqs.

Skoda Designers and Engineers are likely right now not addressing the characteristic for the Elroq or Epiq.    'Simply Clever', just not Vorsprung durch technik!

My Kamiq does it. More when parked on my sloping drive but still does it when parked on level ground sometimes. I complained to the dealer about it and they said it was perfectly normal! In 50+ years of car ownership it's the first car I've had that does it. I wonder about the long term effects on the bottom of the doors re corrosion.

There are plenty decade and a half old + Skoda that have had the same and bottom of their doors is not a rust issue.

There are maintenance guides on how the drain holes should be cleaned out periodically,

but like sun roof maintenance that is unlikely to happen as Skoda Main Dealers, not even with Used Car pre sales prep,

even though A FULL DEALER MAIN SERVICING History might be advertised or Rigorous Inspections.  Many things do not happen.  Just like Body Inspections for the Corrosion Warranty do not and are not a T&C in the Warranty, but if you have a corrosion claim Skoda / VW UK says no record of having been done, even Approved Used Cars with a FMDSH.

Many thanks for your replies.

Looks like this is a problem across the range for many years although it never happened in my last car, a 2007 Octavia Combi.

I'll have to get down on my hands and knees and have a closer inspection of the door bottoms and seals. As @daftbugga suggests, it does seem possible that the drain holes are blocked when the doors are closed.

@Rooted you mention some maintenance guides on drain hole clearance. Do you know where I might find them? On this site?

Not right now.

But in the many threads there is plenty advice on how to deal with the seals, unblock the drain holes.
