Microphone on CarPlay

Featured Replies

Hello folks

Ive got a 1.0TSI Fabia III colour edition 2019

Since buying it second hand I’ve never had the microphone work when connected via Apple CarPlay, having CarPlay is one the reasons I went for such a new car as it’s a work horse.

Bought new genuine Apple cables, tired multiple iPhones inc the new iPhone 15 with USB C port.

Had it back to ŠKODA for diagnostic and they upgraded the firmware to the latest version but informed me the SD card didn’t work, not an issue as I don’t need it to work but could be a contributing factor with my head unit issue.

When using basic Bluetooth connection to head unit the stereo works fine with no microphone issue. So fail to see this being a hardware issue.

When leaving ŠKODA after diagnostic they told me it was as far as they could take it and they couldn’t find a fault but witnessed that the microphone was still not working.

I went back to the dealer I purchased from who have been great in customer service, I asked them what the next steps were.

Due to life issues some months lapsed and I couldn’t tolerate the no mic issue anymore. I contacted the dealer and they arranged for it to go back to ŠKODA for diagnostics even after last time not finding any issue with car.

A couple of days later it’s back from ŠKODA and still they find no fault even after I prove time and time again the mic doesn’t work while using CarPlay.

I'm at my wits end with it and looking for help.

Can anyone relate to this issue and have a fix?

I’ve attached image of head unit with details on screen.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

thanks for reading.

Have you tried to make a full reset of your stereo?

Hi, yeah I’ve done every reset imaginable. Plus ŠKODA themselves done a full system reset and FW upgrade. Still not working. 😩

I have the exact same problem, the dealer can or will not fix it. Maybee a software bug?

I have the exact same issue. Tried everything. After using a headset for months I tried it again answering a voicemail. You can hear me on the recording, so I was happy thinking it was fixed, but in a call yesterday I again turned out to be unaudible. So frustrating.

Have you tried turning the volume wheel up when you are talking?

Thanks. AG Falco

I've come one step further. Turning the volume wheel all the way down allows the other person to hear me. This of course solves nothing as now I'm not able to hear the other one. I think the feature cancelling out the speaker sound to avoid an annoying feedback loop is malfunctioning.

Found the only solution. Bought a cheap wireless carplay adapter to make my connection wire free and its working finally.

@Mints77 which one did you buy?

i just got this one off AliExpress but literally any of these CarPlay wireless adapters will do as they have their own firmware so it’s not relying on the car head unit anymore which is where the mic issue seems to come from for me. You can also find them on Amazon by searching wireless CarPlay adapter.

Thanks
