Connecting Infotainment to phone via WiFi

Featured Replies

Hi, Connected phone to the car via wifi hotspot, Didn't seem to do much. So what's the benefit of using my phone as a hotspot with the car? Can i get traffic info etc or does that just come when you throw cash at Skoda for the connect system (Roughly £40) ?..  Doesn't seem to do anything when connecting the phone up except for phone calls, Streaming music, Android auto (plugged in with cable)..

I'm a bit of a novice ATM with the Kamiq, bought it 3 days ago

One thing I've learnt, reading the forums (unless I've read wrong) the info when buying the car (specs) say wireless CarPlay but not android auto. I bought a cable to suit the Kamiq USB C but found out the infotainment centre does actually connect to my phone Motorola G62 perfectly. Just use the cable to charge.

Also although I've not used the built in navigation I find Waze and Google Maps work great via my phone, had up to date info there too.

So I'm not paying Skoda whatever for a subscription.
