Has anyone fitted a 2-din head unit?

I'm looking at the Kenwoods ddx series. Probably the 6029/6027. Wondered if anyone has any experience of these (good/bad) or if any other makes/models would be good for the money.

I fit a similar sized double din DVD Headunit in an octy recently, and it slipped in nice and perfect without any hassles. It was an Alpine IVA W200 with a 6.5inch pulse touch screen along with an Alpine PXA-H701 Multi Channel Processor. Here's a pic of the install.

Was there a double din plastic surround (like the single din plus tray) that screwed in, and then allowed you to fitted the metal HU cage to? or did it just go straight in behind the plastic trim?

They just go straight in,

remove hu, remove cubby hole. Insert cage provided by stereo manufacturer. Connect up and push home.

I would have thought that the double din would need the surround like the single din and cubby do?

i have the ddx in mine, no complaints so far
