Heated steering wheel not enabled

Featured Replies

I have just bought a 2019 SEL Exec Superb which had a steering wheel clamp previously. This has left an irremovable mark on the steering wheel.

I like the idea of replacing with a heated steering wheel since this is relatively easy to do with a few extras as required from what I understand.

Could I buy the steering wheel with the heated element, but simply replace my existing wheel with it. I could enable  the heated element in the future?

Is this possible?

if i remember correctly - a heated steering wheel requires a different steering clock spring.  this is due to the differences in the wiring required for the heated steering wheel.

so i don't think it will b possible to simply change the wheel alone.

That's what I understand to get the heated element to work. Can I fit a heated steering wheel without the heated element (so just a steering wheel with buttons working) being enabled or will it not work at all without the replacement clock spring?

@george_d - doubt it will work at all.

A heated steering wheel uses a 14-pin connector.

A non-heated steering wheel uses a 16-pin connector.

Unless u get a Kufatec connector conversion.

I'll research the cost of the kufatec adaptor then. Thanks.
