CIVILIZATION IV - Has anyone played in yet

Featured Replies

I have absolutely no idea what any of you are talking about

OH i love using all the modern units... so much more effective and if nothing else there is the deterrent :D

Regardless of war intentions, yes you always need a reasonable sized force as a deterrent.

I have been caught out like that once or twice!

@ Pixi - sorry, we are all little hitlers, basically :D

ok just checked Emily's Machine

she is running a Pentium III Mobile processor Max speed 800MHz

so looks like she will need to get hold of a slightly better machine to run Civ 4

anyone know any good deals which pass more than the minimum spec?

Cheap option is to stick with Civ 3. Hold your purse shut for a while, EE ;)

Dell but make sure it's a lattitude if they do one in your price range as the dimensions are built a bit crap. Saying that if you are using it as a desktop replacement it will be ok. If you are using it as a real lappy then go for the latitude range.

If you want a desktop you can pick on up really cheap.

:bump:

Sorry to dig up an old thread but I now am fully Civ IV enabled and ready to play my first online battle.

Shame it took a year and a half.. but I got there!

How does the online side of things work? Surely you have to be pretty committed given the longevity of the game! I'd be up for an online battle at some point, although I'll probably be a bit rusty!

On Settlers... I've only ever really played Settlers I on my Amiga, 2 player on one screen was awesome, but my favourite thing is the music! Dee d dee dee, d dee dee dee dee. And the little piggies!!!!

I have no idea how to even register myself as interested in playing online. I think you can start a big game and as real people drop out they are taken over again by AI.

I am not the best person to play against because I hate war and get really upset and quit if people try to fight me

It's only electronic war... no-one ever really dies!

I know but I like building them stuff and then they celebrate we ove the queen day, it's really cute :o

You should all try playing Rise of Nations.... now that IS an uber game :D

never heard of Rise of Nations

do you need a good spec PC??

Also Emily I'll give ya a quick game one day and promiss to only war a few times :P

Rise of Nations is cool. I've got it. Whilst still quite a long game online, its probably a lot shorter than Civ!

I'd be up for a real time online game of Civ4 at some point... none of this playing by email stuff tho :P

EE Now you have Civ4 you need the 2 add-on packs :D

Yeah the latest one adds a few units that should of been in the original game...
