Infotainment turning on when car is off

Featured Replies

Hello there,

I recently purchased a used  2020 Octavia 1.5 TSI SE. I've had it for about a month. Quite early on it had the dreaded SOS problems which has been in for diagnostics but still not fixed (it requires a firmware update and a new aerial which is on back order). Today it has developed a new problem.  My phone has been popping up all day telling me android auto is now connected, assumed it wasy phone. Low and behold I look out my window outside and can see my infotainment screen is on. It will turn off then come back on. I've held the button down to reset it that seemed to have fixed it for a couple of hours and then it has suddenly started doing it again.

Has this happened to anyone else?  I am wondering how long it will be before the battery will go.

Known issue. Battery may be dead as fast as in a few hours, so beware. Until it is fixed, one option is to pull infotainment's fuse overnight.

First, update it to SW 1941 or above. Then, if didn't help, you may try to turn off proximity sensor and gesture recognition in infotainment's settings. Another thing to try is putting car in private mode. See if it helps. If not, Skoda will say you have to swap infotainment, that costs around 1500 + tax (in EU) for the for the part only.

Thanks for that. I'll try the proximity sensor and gesture recognition setting along with private mode. It's already on version 1941.  I had a Skoda a few years back, never had a single issue with it, missed having it which is why went back to having one.   Not been as enjoyable thus far.

If you've got 1941 then try:

1. A factory reset, but make sure you have both keys for an easier time.

2. Update the system to 1969.

I had some kinda of naive notion that it kept turning on to download the OTA update for 1969.

I don't think it does. I'm certain that it does it even with the ignition system switched off as I've come down to the car and found a number on the bottom line of the infotainment system where the globe is, telling there's an update available.

Beyond that recommended by @TheWanderer also try to access the car without automatic connecting to Android Auto, BT and Wifi switched off, starts the car, then enable BT and Wifi.
I had the same issue and after upgraded to 1969 on my own I had a little improvement, but not solved definitively.
