A Newbie - Another One

Featured Replies

Hi all. Have been searching for a SKODA community for a while and came across BRISKODA yesterday afternoon by chance.

Glad to have found it

Currently, am on my second SKODA. Had a new Fabia Comfort estate 1.4 in 2002, only to have a blow out in the offside rear tyre on the A1 in April 2004 that left the car a write off and me lucky to be alive. Long story, so I won't go into details, it all happened so fast really, but to this day, I think my quick reactions aided by the ESP system saved my life - something I will never be without now!

Anyway, got a replacement car in July 2004, another Fabia Comfort Estate, this time a 1.4 16V with alloys (free due to special promotion).

Have had no mechanical faliures on either car apart from the radio system in the first car overheating on it's first long journey to France and was promptly replaced under warranty by Wings of Peterborough in December 2002.

In fact, the only real problems I have had was when I had roof rails fitted last year, by Wings Of Peterborough again, but I will post that info in teh dealer section.

Have been happy with my SKODA purchases so far, but due to a second child on the way, have ordered a 1.6 FSI Octavia Elegance in Silver (like my Fabias) due to needing more space inside and the boot is bigger with the seats up too than the Fabia estate.

I actually ordered the new car from Saltdean (and then I read the reviews here  ) in Brighton (via Carfile) and got a fair trade in price and got about

Welcome, Your like the Oct'y.

Thanks.

Have to say, I can't wait for it to arrive. It's just a case of what arrives first, the car or the baby :)

Thanks.

Welcome. I bought an Octy2 estate too as we are expecting our first in August. In the parts catalogue they do some clip on sun shades for all of the glass back of the 'B' pillar. I got them and they really do look smart and are much nicer than those nasty stick on thingys that have gaps all the way round anyway. I paid 165 quid for 5 blinds. You'll love the car mate.

The car is being delivered to my house and they will then take the Fabia, so will have a car either way. Good job eh?

Must admit, I have paid for the rear blind but didn't realise they did them for the side too. I am actually getting a Hatch. Currently have a Fabia estate. Are the rear door blinds for both the estate or the hatch?

Will look into that, cheers.

Just looked at the Skoda website. I know this might sound a strange question, but I presume they are permanently fixed to the windows? Do they hinder the use of those rear windows in anyway?
