Octavia Mk 2 MPI 1.6 timing belt replacement

Featured Replies

Hello to everyone here. Does anyone know when the timing belts need changing on a Octavia 2011 1.6 mpi. I've been poking around on the tinter-net to find out to any info but to no success. So if there are any great minds out there with the knowledge please share. I think I might be running on borrowed time.

Thanks for any help.

Mike

No idea but if it has the one that has been on for 13 years or 14 since the engine was built about now seems like the time.

?

How many miles has it done?

The Haynes manual for the Golf Mk5 suggests every 60,000 miles for all the different engines in them, commenting that VAG recommend 120,000 miles.

Given the age of the car I would change the belt, tensioner and any idlers.

It could be on borrowed time.

Booked in now to get it done at the end of the month. I've been quoted £400 for parts and labor. That includes water pump.
