Wheel noise

Featured Replies

Hi All

I have a wheel noise coming from the front, it clunks intermittently as the wheel turns, gets a bit louder as I drive then it's not noticeable. If I drive in reverse there's no noise whatsoever. Same noise when cornering in either direction, it doesn't change. Is it a CV joint or bad bearing?

It was fine after the car sat for 4h, but 10 min into a motorway journey it started again, I'm suspecting bearing. But I never had one where it makes noise at low speeds as well and no noise in reverse.

Just a thought; have you fingertip checked all round the tyres after a run where you felt the wobble?  I'm wondering if you have a tyre balloon developing that expands when hot but settles back on cooling.

Had a similar noise on mine, turned out to be a torn CV boot.

was stumped at first as it was intermittent, heard it only on speeds in excess of 80km/h.

check behind the wheel, for signs of grease, mine had it all over the ball joint & sway bar links.

I no longer have the car. Thanks all.
