Greetings all

My local breakers yard has Mark 1 Octavia in stock which I am going to go and rob blind. Can anybody give me hints or tips to get the driver's door wiring loom out in one piece please? Having now put the machine on vcds it looks like there are broken wires in the loom. Obviously it's a plug on the door side but I am very much hoping it's the same under the dash so my plan is to rip the whole thing out. What I am not sure about is how to get under the dash to the other end of the loom... All assistance much appreciated as usual!

Most likely the broken wires are in the gap between the door and the pillar, where they constantly bend. The door loom can be disonnected at the pillar by rotating the connector on the pillar. Then you just take off the door card and take the loom out.

Or take the whole door so you have a spare lock, handle, window regulator and switch.

@MiloFrance ...and sooner or later you'll probably want the window regulator if not the other gubbins.

Nope they go straight in to the door 🤔

Peel back the grommet and look for connector. Image from Skoda manual.

Morning all. I've put an inspection camera into the hole that the loom descends into and there is definitely not a plug to be detached anywhere visible. The loom heads off towards the inside of the dashboard, does anybody have a video or hints and tips how to get to the other end of it please?

As indicated in the diagram the connectors are not directly inside the pressing.

You have to remove the footwell trim panel to access the connector.

 

 

 

The connector is 150mm below the grommet on the body. It is indicated in the first image I posted. For rear doors it is down by the seat belt reel.

So I have found a wire with no connection continuity to the plug. Red with a yellow stripe, connects to the pin at the end of the red line. Anyone know what it is?
