Main screen doesn't work

Featured Replies

Hi everyone

Have Octavia 2014 estate with sat nav amundsen onboard

Since I've bought it main screen never works. Not even background light on buttons.

Long time I spend to catch the exactly same model number display on eBay, it arrived I connect it and....it's not working as well....not even background lights on buttons...

So probably mine is not faulty and just need to find why units not working...

Any ideas??

I tried all fuse behind glove box they all are fine...

Hello, welcome to the forumI'm pretty sure these infotainment systems are coded to the vehicle - assuming the replacement unit is functional, I believe that at the very least you will need to get this done.

AFAIK the screen is just a screen, if you bought and put in a replacement screen ("same model number display on eBay,") and it didn't work then the screen is not at fault, it's the glovebox unit that's at fault.

Sounds like the screen is not connected to the glovebox unit or glovebox unit is not getting power or isn't coded correctly to the car if it was ever replaced by previous owner..

I have just collected a 2015 Octavia Estate 1.6 TDI SE Business Greenline III. Seems like a lovely car for the age/mileage (just over 106k miles). After puzzling with the infotainment/nav system for a while, I realised that actually.. it's not me being daft, it IS actually supposed to be a touchscreen interface, and despite the display working in every other way, it doesn't respond to _touch_ whatsoever. I'll be trying to get that fixed under the limited 3 month warranty that came with the car. Has anyone else experienced this? I see plenty of posts claiming the screen can get a little non-responsive in the cold, but nobody seems to mention experiencing a total loss of touch input function.

The screen doesn't need coding in....I would use this opportunity to replace this screen (it looks like an Amunden system) with a screen from a Facelifted MIB system - which should be drop-in replacement.

The early screens from a non-Facelifted car do seem prone to failure.

Thanks. I have seen a few screens which appear identical on ebay - salvaged parts, obviously. Some as cheap as £50! One that I'm currently looking at contains the disclaimer "this comes with no unlock code", which as an electronics ignoramus, concerns me.
So you're saying just the screen unit itself (as opposed to the box with the SD card slots that sits in the glovebox) should just be a drop-in/plug and play component with no need to unlock? If that's the case, then I will definitely look at taking a punt on one of these.

Thanks, I'd appreciate that. The link you have there looks like a more modern version, where the buttons are entirely contained within the glass touchscreen area. Mine is a bit older than that.
Here's one I was looking at:

Pls share your VIN to confirm part number

I have DM'd you, Pab567.

The display you listed is for MIB1 Amundsen, it will NOT work with your unit as you have Amundsen MIB2. The display you need is 5E0919605J or 5E0919605H (no NAV and traffic buttons but will work) or 5E0919606. Diplsya units 5E0919605M and 5E0919605N will work OK except APP button inactive (unldess you upgrade your glove box unit at least to SW 03xx).

Ah brilliant. Thank you.

I'm a month or so late, but just wanted to confirm that I got that replacement touchscreen from eBay, using the information pab567 gave me. It works perfectly. One of the twisty knobs was a bit broken, but I was able to cannibalise a good one from the outgoing non-functional touchscreen that came with the car. £70 fix plus about £7 for the little tools to remove the screen easily from the dashboard. Very happy. Thanks pab567! You're a gent.

UR welcome :)
