Fitting a boost gauge sensor

Done a bit of a search but so far not had much luck in actually determining how to achieve this:

* Got a gauge with instructions

* Got a sensor with 1/8" NPT

* Got a 1/8" NPT Tee, a blanking slug, and a Hose Barb.

The hose barb is supposed to be used with a tube with 1/4" internal diameter.

Basically it kinda looks like this:

barb -> T piece -> at 90 deg angle the slug, straight through goes to sensor.

Alternatively I could swap sensor & slug if more suitable to where it will end up.

I spotted something about tapping into a turbo pipe or inlet manifold, but is there also a way of using a barb instead?

What size tubes are there on the PD130 (Fabia vRS)?

you could tap into the small hose which goes from the compressor housing on the turbo to the boost pressure modulator (n75?). but this would give an inaccurate boost reading

My guage came with no fittings at all, which was good in the end as my mate found the perect solution. Its like an 8mm bolt, so after drilling an 8mm hole in my inlet manifold this bolt just screws right in (using ptfe tape to seal right) and through the middle of the bolt is a tiny hole and there's a nipple on the end which the pipe to the boost gauge went over. There was a similar pipe on the back of the guage itself. :) Most accurate readings I think - good to see the pressures right before the air goes into the engine. :)

Of course, the above will all be worthless to me once my race pipe is fitted. Then I'll be using the tap which has been manufactured into the pipe itself. Piccies to follow. :D

Sounds like I may have to do some experiments. Originally we were going to tap some thread into a boost pipe but inlet manifold seems like the best place.

Now the tricky bit would be to find someone able to tap the 1/8" NPT in the UK, it's not the most common in the UK :(
