Cambelt Interval

Featured Replies

I have an Octy Elegance 1.9TDi and want to know what the cambelt interval is.

Garages are undecided as to wether the thing is 60k or 80k.

Does anyone know when the thing changed up to 80k from 60k?

Thanks

From what I understand from the service schedule, the 60k service is where it's first inspected, and then again at every 20k interval thereafter.

It's up to the tech to assess the condition of the belt on these inspections and advice whether it should be changed accordingly...

Mine was inspected at the last 40k service.

Obviously i would like to leave it until the third variable service if the thing can cope with going to 80k, but if it needs doing at 60k then i will do it before then or sell the car.

I have a 1.9TDI like yours (2002) I had mine replaced for safety's sake - yes it probably would do 80K easily, even maybe 100k if pushed( donnnt chance it), but why risk it .

It will cost a lot more if It snaps!!!!! possibly complete engine rebuild!!!

Get it done at 60K and end your worries thats my advice +

oh and by the way, mine cost 100 quid and my local garage did it for about £130 quid labour ( thats the cam belt + pulleys and runners)

i got the fabia vRS

i had a letter in the post saying Cambelt was changed once every 4 years, no matter on the mileage.

So i rang Skoda UK as I read this as I could do 100k mileage in 4 years and only change then

they said it was a miss print and should of been every 4 years or 80k miles and checked at 60k for all Skodas

I hope this helps some people out

or if you want to put your mind at ease just ring skoda UK

Will give skoda Uk a call.

I would never consider chancing a cambelt, but with this car it will probably go to 65-70k before the next service is up. If the belt was good for 80k by the book thene I could get it done with the next service and if not i will have to do it sooner or sell the car sooner.

I know people used to joke about VW servicing prices, but my fathers ford can have two main dealer services for the price of one of mine :(

From what I understand from the service schedule' date=' the 60k service is where it's first inspected, and then again at every 20k interval thereafter.

Right well unless i get a conclusive answer from SUKCS that says higher than 60k it looks like i'm going with 60 then.

Anybody know of a reasonably priced Independant that is good with skodas in the hampshire/dorset areas.

Thanks guys
