Replacement brake dust shield?

Featured Replies

Mine are pretty rusty and given that I need to replace the disks and pads soon was wondering if this an easy enough job to install the new brake disc shields or is it more involved job, like taking the hub off?

Pic for reference.

Hi,

On front brake discs, it seems that you can replace them easily. They're jist fixed with 3 screws (whose torque is 12Nm).

On rear brake discs, it looks like you need to remove the hub...

But this needs to be confirmed. I'm not a specialist.

Spot on.

front is easy, rear involves lots more removal.

Get them off and do an Edd China special*, be cheaper, unless they’re too far gone

* Satin black spray

Rear removal and replacement is very simpl eif you make one cut which is held together rigidly when the new disc is bolted up, the old ones you can usually tear off with your bare hands.

@Danoid They will be far gone if visibly "pretty rusty" likely only the original paint holding them together,  you would have to remove them to spray paint and I have always paid less than €10 for new ones, until the Dutch company Action opened shops in France it would have cost me more for an Aerosol paint than the brake backplates!!!

Thanks folks, bummer to hear the back one is the tricky one as those of the two that are particularly rusty.

Oh didn’t realise they were that cheap tbh, was expecting treble what you said at least

Could you illustrate where are you make this cut to make installation of the rears easy?
