Fault code questions please

Featured Replies

I have started a new post on my engine fault issue as I could not obtain a decent scanner before I go on a trip.

I have bought a basic OBD reader to just get the codes - Sealy VS8812

Having checked the car using this I have a fault code of P220B which is described as NOX sendor fault on bank 2. I read there may be more than on cause of this but hopefully it is just a new sensor required?

What surprise me is no other codes are found since I have no Cruise control or Lane assist after tow bar fitted, the door locks are faulty and I have an airbag error.

Can anyone throw any light on these results please?

Pretty sure that a code reader like that only looks at the engine module. The other modules are manufacturer-specific and you need something like VCDS or ODB11 to read them. The NoX sensor is probably duplicated and it is using the fallback one (or the fallback one is faulty) and so probably no impact in how the engine runs. Unrelated to the other faults you mention

I only wanted to get the engine fault identified before travelling so it seems to have done that.  I note the info on other modules so thanks for the feedback. I plan to get a decent scanner when I can find a seller that ships here and I have more time.

Here is an update on this problem. My Login failed so I had tochange my password hence the delay here.

I called into the Skoda main dealer to identify the part for this sensor as I did not have time to do anything before the trip to France. The dealer quoted euro 550 for the NOX sensor! They are going for 125 euro on other outlets. I got the part number in case I had a problem in France and went on my merry way. The warning light remained on for much of the trip but then one day went out. The car has not had a problem.

It has not come back on.

The joys of modern cars.

Maybe the bulb had just had enough.😄

“Ahhhh right……you mean that NOX sensor, oh well then yeah, that one’s around €125!”

Just an update on this - I have splashed out on a proper Rosstech HEX-V2 interface. I have an NCT coming up and the Airbag light must be extinguished amongst many other things!
