Superb mk3 towbar coding

Featured Replies

Hi guys can anyone help me with coding my towbar on my 2018 l&k superb, i have fitted a genuine detachable towbar with the genuine wiring loom & module, but now I have ACC faults & cruise won't work.

I was told that it should all plug in & work with no hassle!!! Not the case, can i code it myself with vcds?

Thanks in advance

Need to activate towbar module, and make a few changes to ACC, etc. I think I’ve got a guide somewhere in my computer… I’ll have a look 2moro. 👍

Hi Steve,

Found info I used to code my towbar on 2017 Sportline..

First, Activate the trailer control unit: On the page of installed control units, click on the red button in the bottom right and scroll down and check 69 - Trailer. This control unit will now appear on your main list.

Second, you need to activate some of the options within the other control units.
NB. Depending on your car’s specifications you may not have some/all of the options. For the control units you don’t have listed, you can ignore the coding change.

Please take installed/coded/yes as interchangeable.
09 - central electrics (security code 31347)
Long coding: hitch_ecu - change to installed

46 - Central module comfort system
trailer monitoring – change to active
trailer control unit – change to installed

3C - Lane Change Assist
ECU for draw bar – change to with ECU for draw bar
(Or Trailer control unit – change to installed)

17 - Dashboard
Trailer – change to yes

6C - reverse camera system
equipment_ahk/trailer detection – change to installed

74 - chassis control system
Trailer – change to installed

10 or 76 - PDC controller
Trailer – change to trailer device can be removed manually

13 - controller distance control (security code 20103)
Control module for towing sens/Control module for trailer – change to installed

A5 - front sensors driver assistance system
AAG/Trailer electrics – change to coded

6D - boot lid electronics controller
Trailer/controller for trailer – change to installed

YELLOW - Control unit is in working condition but it is not installed in Gateway installation list.

Use the Gateway list coding function to add this control unit to the Gateway installation list.

Go to the gateway list and you should have a function that allows you to add new one, select 69 and add it

second and easier way is go to settings and turn on auto gateway this will add all new control units for you

re run scan and hopefully error gone

I changed the modules I have, I.e. don't have lane assist. I had some issues, but that was due to bad wiring on reverse camera I installed at the same time. The towbar coding was pretty much as above.  Can't remember where I dug this from.... possibly OBDeleven forum.

Hi. Need help as well. Got a sviwel towbar installed myself skoda superb mk3 2016 se 150hp).

I have bought the trailer control unit separately ( 5Q0907383N). I was doing coding using vcds. All was good until i connected the caravan and trailer.. The porblem ia thta the lights are not working properly. Right turning light not working at all.. Left works with the brake at the same time.. I thought as it is aplug and play (my car was trailer prepared so all the connection was at the nack of the car already)  then i shouldn't have a problem. My question is : do i have to reprogram the control unit to make the lights to work properly? Or there most likely will be a trailer to control unit wire that is not broke or not connected properly. Thanks.. I didn't wire anything as was juat plug and pay for me (2 connection outlet from  the car fuse to the control unit and 2 from the trailer to control unit
