Featured Replies

can u but the induction kit for the furby vrs? will it make much differance to performance? iam hopint to buy one soon if any1 can help where, how much and which is best would be great help thanks.

I dont know of any that have been fitted tbh.

You could get a Pipercross Viper to do the job but they are very overpriced for what they are and wouldnt net you much gain I would have thought.

i think k&n do a induction kit for the seat 1.9tdi 150bhp i would have thought it should be the same one. could be wrong

ade

SEAT dont do a 150 bhp TDi in this country.

It would be the same as a 130 TDi Ibiza.

Let us know how you get on, would be interested in this one.

Dont know if the power benefits would be worth the cost.

I know Graeme had one on his old 16v and he said it affected the mpg quite badly.

You might get some nice throaty induction noise with it though and as long as it has a cold air feed you should be OK.

Maybe you could make one using a universal filter?

However I found with a few DIY mods on the airbox intake on my TDi I made a noticable difference. Graeme has noted this too.

IMO the intake pipe is quite restrictive, but the airbox itself seems to OK apart from the trumpet piece inside (can be removed)

Ade,

The 150 is listed for the Leon which has a different airbox to the Ibiza/Fabia so would be a different fitting.

Id agree the best way to do t if you want to is to mod the original airbox and maybe see if you can get a performance panel filter.

mod the box in wot way ross

As Matt has said, I did notice a big difference in mpg on my 16v with the AI kit, but then it did have a de-cat too! It did improve the power slightly, but only once I had routed a cold air feed to the filter.

I have been told by a few people though that an AI on a PD engine isn't a great idea as it can very quickly clog up the MAF sensor and they ain't cheap to replace! I too would personally go for a panel filter and some choice mods to the airbox.

There is a trumpet looking thing in the airbox which just pulls out and then possibly change the origional inlet ducting for something a bit less restrictive and use some heat insulation so to keep the air cold.

Hope this helps slightly and I haven't gone and confused anyone!

:D

This is very similar to what I did to my TDi. (Thanks to Driveforward on Seatcupra.net for the original ideas) I removed the trumpet pipe in the airbox and had a JR element cotton gauze fitted..

Below is the IMO restrictive intake pipe that the new, much wider bore tubing (from a DIY store) replaced.

Looks suspect, but the results were noticable. :D

Matt. I am guessing the pipe that goes infront of the engine, goes down to the front bumper for extra cold air feeding. Is that right?

Yes thats right. The particular one shown above has an air scoop pointed forwards under the front spoiler.

I didnt bother with the second tube, but I actually removed the bracket circled in red in the attachment. On mine the tubing had a direct air feed through the front grill and I did it so you couldnt see the duck tape.

Its a shame I didnt take pictures if it!

I think I may have to do the inlet tubing mod myself now! :D
