Far too much smoke. Kidding

Ok think if been shot down enough!:o Was only asking as i've seen many other TDIs start up with no smoke at all, where as this one chucks a cloud out every start up hoping there wasn't an oil problem.

I do know i own a diesel, and yes i do know it will smoke... was just worried about the amount.

Ta all

Whenever you worry just watch one of those videos of me at Castle Combe. :)

yes yours is a whole other story!!! I've sat behind you without air-recirc on!!!

Found the route cause.... checked oil level and when it was serviced last wednesday oil level has been over filled hence the extra smoke... there was more than normal hence me posting but now theres none

Just popped outside and did a vid of mine starting:

. . . and a close-up:

IIRC, yours has about 100k on the clock as opposed to 47k on mine . . . maybe the piston rings are just a bit more worn? Does it use any oil?

Doesn't look massively different in the close up except colour of the smoke, but that may be my vid / your vid camera being different.

My Fabia didn't smoke at all from 53k onwards, when I bought it. All my other diesels have let out a cloud of smoke on WOT and then nothing. Oh with the exception of my old Disco with tweaked fuel pump which would make Jason's smog monster look tame!

If you are worried, then put in a clean air filter, take the car out for a good blast and watch it stop smoking. :)

Used to do that prior to all MOT's on older cars and tbh skoda are optamistic with the life of the air filters, so you could change it anyway.
