Heating...where has it gone ?

Featured Replies

Now the front heater no longer gets warm.Of the 4 vents in the front,  3 of them blow out cold air and the other one opposite the drivers side mirror  has enough warm air to fill the car . So to be grateful for small mercies. Our winter this year is  particularly cold. Dare I ask ....is it a fuse ?

Ok so it is now 2.41am. The outside temp is 5.0 C and the temperature gauge is on 80%.

The front of the screen is  on Hi for drivers side and  is blowing some warm air out over my feet. The vents in the front where the aircon is situated  are still blowing out cold  air.  In settings,, the Automatic air conditioning is on and  auto clima is set to Smart A/C. Changing to  Classic Air I have now turned the  Auto  up to mid range and everything has gone cold  so turned that off and back to the original. Some heat is better than none so I will take what I can get. It is winter after all and not as cold as the UK. I don't have access to  the book to change anything else.

All good for now. I will just leave it as it is. Thankyou.

I am confused ! I asked how long have you been driving, 10, 20 60 Mins ? and you say the gauge shows 80% the temp gauge does not show in percentage it shows in

centigrade (but guessing might be Fahrenheit) but still not a percentage.

please answer the questions ?

On the left hand side there I s a temp gauge that goes from 50 to 90. It is sitting on 80.

I hadn't  driven anywhere. I was sitting in the yard waiting for the gauge to rise. Perhaps 20  minutes.

I was told by the dealership that is 2 hours away to wait until the gauge hit 90 before turning the heater onto HI, so in the meantime I am sitting in a cold car, so I just drove it anyway and as I drove i had warm and eventually hot air coming out of the top RH vent, the only vent that has warm air ...so I shall be grateful for  small mercies.

Sitting in the yard not moving will never get the water temp up, you need to be driving for the temp to rise and you say its very cold that will make it worse

The temperature here has been as low as 6 Celsius some mornings. Nevertheless, after only a few minute of driving the engine water temperature reaches its normal value of 90 degrees.

If I leave the Clima set to Auto the airflow is feeble and the cabin takes a long time to warm up.

I fix that by doing what I would do in an old-fashioned car.

  • Clima to manual.
  • Temperature to 27 degrees Celsius.
  • Fan speed to maximum.
  • Turn on the vents for face level and foot level.

After a few minutes the car is nice and toasty warm and I can revert to Auto mode.

My experience is quite different, albeit with the 2023 model. Heats up (and cools down) very quickly to my set temps, stays on auto year round. As your coolant temp is being achieved without any problem maybe the earlier clima system could be updated??

Mine has been updated to 1941 but in the process the system got reset. I think I forgot to reset the Auto mode to use a stronger fan setting. I shall try that next time. In any case it gets up to a reasonable temperature fairly fast - certainly less than 10 minutes.

Replying to Dave From Sydney: I will try what you have  suggested to see if it makes any difference. Thank you for your answer.
