Hi Guys

 

2010 1.9tdi BXE Octavia and has engine management light on, down on power alot and hissing noise from engine when idle and gets louder when revved.

 

Checked all the vaccum boast hoses and they all seem to be fine, I changed the electronic Vaccum boast box as I thought it was that, and didn't help.

 

When I push down on EGR valve lung (picture attached) it seems to stop the hissing. Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with something similar to this to save me hours or days of troubleshooting 😕

Yeah there's 2 hoses go to the intercooler. Maybe split/worn lugs or seals. Usually see oil residue around the leak. Could be hose to intake egr too. Depending how bad it is could have worn the intercooler or egr/asv valve too.

The photo you posted is of the egr cooler.

Thanks Blue, the hissing sound is coming from the black EGR Valve lung circled, the EGR cooler was changed about 6 months ago and now all this 

 

I'll recheck all the pipes again tomorrow to be sure

I'd have thought that whole part was changed with the cooler. I have heard of the valve failing on the past.

Did you replace the parts with a new quality one yourself? If not I'd take it back to the garage.
