service history

Featured Replies

hi if i called into  a skoda main dealers and offered to pay would they print out the service history for my car

Call in and do not offer to pay and do not pay if asked too.

The System is online, has been for over 12 years, ask to see what information is held on the servicing.  Data Protection does not stop them from telling you.

Your car, your responsibility and they are not the keepers of Top Secret Information, on a need to know basis and Car Owners / Keepers not needing to know.

PS.

Sorry, welcome to the forum.

Local soda dealer, which is only an approved service centre now I think, gave me a print out of all service records held on record for my Karoq. The car was bought from an independent dealer by me. They can't say which dealer did the work, only that it was an approved service centre. It doesn't detail the work done, just the date, mileage and if it was an oil service or oil with inspection.

Ask for the "complete record" have it printed out, pay nothing nor offer to, it your VWSkoda car, they are VW Skoda Dealers.

The Skoda record that is wanted is the PDI, then any and every action so the service and inspection or extended scope might not be much, but the brake fluid change, dsg service ect should show.  Pollen filter. Air filter maybe not.  But you want to know if warranty work or recall actions have been done.

Thanks for the info I will have a drive to the skoda dealers and ask them so thanks again to everyone who replied

If the service desk reception person had an issue and thinks they are the Gate keeper of knowledge and awkward ask for their Service manager and if they are gods gift to the world of secrecy then the Dealer Principal is the best person to ask for.    Then it seems fair to give them a big up online / on the socials if very helpful and a mention if not.

Shown - "brake fluid service", (I've no idea about DSG (thank gawd)), "dust and air filter" - cabin filter, "air cleaner element" - engine air filter, "spark plug" -hopefully it means more than singular, and "Recall" - a rare event a VW admitted recall.

I don't know if the rip-off, unnecessary (£429) rubber cambelt change is listed as the last "Complete record" my wife got was just before the robbing bastards done so, plus my wife can't stand to be in the place any longer than absolutely necessary and hasn't asked for the print-out of the "Complete record" that I request her to get.

Any tips on using Erwin to view service history? Do you need to set a start and end date and generate a report? I had a quick go while downloading some data but didn't get anything from the service history.

Loads of info on the site about using Erwin, I've never used it.  There's something about you can pay 7 euros and have a frenzied download of loads of info on all sorts as long as you have the recording and storage equipment all ready for the flood of info.   But I'd guess if you have an account it depends on the type of account what you can get and do.

Last independent garage we tok my wife's VW product to for a service balls'd up the entry and said there was no choice in the drop down menu for what had previously been entered by the Dealerships, this garage listed it as IIRC "Inspection" but you know what it's like with garages / mechanics / engineers they can never admit to themselves let alone others when they make a mistake.

I downloaded everything I needes and a bit more 😁👌didn't know if I was doing something wrong with the service history or not, a lot of cars have locks on them now so you cant acces stuff.
