Blurred Reversing Camera but not dirty?

Featured Replies

Had the reversing camera replaced in March this year on my 70 plate SE L Hatchback. Within the last few weeks I've noticed that it's very blurry and appears out of focus unless, as pictured, the object is within 6 inches of it. Obviously that's no use because if it's that close, chances are you have already crashed into whatever it was! Has anyone else experienced this issue or know a remedy without visiting the dealer?

The camera lens is clean before anyone asks, appears to be a focus issue.

Unfortunately it looks like moisture has gotten behind the lens

Mine was like that, changed it a week ago under warranty.  Probably moisture from washing.

Hello,

In the last weeks, my reverse camera has developed a weird malfunction, and start flickering from time to time. I tried to replicate the issue in different conditions (hot whether, wet/rainy weather, leaving the car in direct sunlight for couple of hours), but never managed to get a real pattern.
The car was at dealer for MIB software update(to v1969) 2 weeks ago, but at that time this problem wasn't present. 😞 They just connected the diagnostic, didn't find any DTC/errors in camera module, so then returned the car how it was!

I've attached a video from yesterday morning when I managed to capture it in an underground parking place.

Any advises will be highly appreciated!

Thank you

Hello @East_Yorkshire_Retrofits,

Apologies for this inconvenience, but I didn't realize that video has been deleted from the hosting service.
I've re-uploaded it:

Later EDIT: I've also checked with OBD11 dongle and there is a new version available for module 6C(Reverse Camera), which is 0364. Currently running v0344.

Can you take a look and advise me what to do next?

Cheers

Later EDIT

Does it do it out in the natural light? On the video it looks like the refresh rate of the camera is coinciding with the PWM'd LED tail lights giving the strobing effect

Given the fault occurred without any software changes taking place, it's unlikely to be a software issue
