Storage area under front arm rest blowing hot

Featured Replies

Lat year the dealer re-did the aircon and then the air blowing into the centre storage are under the arm rest blows the temperature of the heater setting. The Glove compartment only blows cold, as did the storage area.

I mentioned it to them and they quite confidently blagged that the L&K doesn't have a refrigerated storage area. I didn't think much of it but it is bugging me again and going in for a service soon

I have mislaid my original User Manual and cant find one online (yet) and was hoping someone with a Mk3 L&K 2016 could look in their user manual and send me a photo of the bit that I am hoping tells you how to control the coldness by rotating the dial.

I have, due to the foresight of a member on here, got the relevant section out of the 2016 brochure that mentions the 2 cold areas.

thanks in advance.

I have found an instruction manual, but could someone do an experiment for me.

When next in the car, can you turn the dial in the storage area under the arm rest to the open position so air is blowing and then turn the heater to maximum temp and see if the air blows hot or cold into the storage area.

I think it should always be cold (or my chocolate will melt) but I am now doubting myself as the instruction manual suggests it blows at the temperature set on the AC unit.

Thanks

I just tried mine. The car is hot. I turned the heat to Hi, turned off Auto and switched the direction to full air from the upper vents. I can confirm that hot air was expelled from the storage area vent. Turning down to Lo had the opposite effect; nice chilled air from the storage area vent. I think there’s nowt wrong with your setup…..unless mine is wrong too!?

I found this in the manual:

”The temperature of the storage compartment supplied with air is dependent on the setting in the air conditioning.”

That’ll be that then… Cheers @nicknorman

I can tell you with 100% certainty that the air that blows into the arm rest box is regulated by the rear temperature.

So depending on if you have 2 or 3 zone climate will determine if the passenger or rear climate controls it.

There is no dedicated cold air feed to the arm rest whereas the glovebox has a feed from after the evaporator core but before the heating element.
