Drive shafts for 6 speed DSG (4x4 mk3 Scout)

Featured Replies

Hi all.

I'm very confused about the drive shafts for my 2015 Octavia. I'm in Norway and ordered aftermarket drive shafts for both front sides. BUT, the shop I ordered from stated it was for "automatic" with little else info. but now as i got the parts (and couldn't actually tell them apart without googling) i noticed one of them says 7 speed gearbox on the product page for GSP. But upon a little ressearch I can not figure out what lenght driveshaft it actually should be, as it seems every manufacturer has their own definition of length.

So, I'm terribly confused. Will both theese fit?

I have theese two front axles in hand, and I am definitely NOT taking out anything until I KNOW it will for certain fit my car.

1: front left: Dr!ve+ DP2110.10.2265

2: Front right: GSP 201893

Both front axles inner joints are bad, and the car shakes like a paint bucket mixer. There's so much play in the joints I can move the inner joint on the axles by hand, so theese really need to be swapped ASAP. Also, I'm far from home on vacation, so if the parts above are not compatible, I might have to leave my car here.

Update: so I just went with it, and everything was a nice fit, completely identical to oem, but included 6 connecting bolts where not correct for my car, only the larger hub axle bolt was compatible.

For anyone with the same questions. There doesn't seem to be any difference between 6 and 7 speed DSGs in regards of the CV axles.

How has it been after some time?

We have same job coming and again the Scout trim makes part sourcing pain in the arse. Subject is also a 2015 scout.

Original axles have following numbers:

Left: 5Q0 407 271 CP

Right: 5Q0 407 272 DL

At least the stickers were good quality 😁

With the original codes only used axles from Scouts are found.

According to my research suitable part numbers are:

Left: 5Q0 407 271 L

Right: 5Q0 407 272 EP

These also give the axels you have fitted. However I think we will go for SKF. If they dont last, then Spidan. The original axle prices from skoda are such a joke.

Cant really say im anything but satisfied with the parts I got. No problems so far but had to reuse the bolts for the flange, as the new ones where three times to long. Center drive axle shaft bolt had different head size on my parts, so one could be installed with a standard 6p 27mm pipe, but the other needed a 12p 24mm pipe.

Ive only driven around a year on theese axles though, wo cant really say anything for sure, but as far as ive heard, brand/quality might give you several years more use compared to the cheaper alternatives.

Bedt of luck to you. The job itself was fairly easy.

Thanks for the comments!

Yeah there seems to be three bolt thread variants for the flange, M10x23 mm, M8x48 mm and M10x52 mm. Sounds like the 23 mm was correct one in your case and then probably on mine too.

And btw for any future readers, Skoda dealership confirmed the part numbers to be what were suggested above:

Left: 5Q0 407 271 L

Right: 5Q0 407 272 EP
