DSG gearbox issue

Featured Replies

driving on the motorway yesterday, went to overtake a lorry doing 50mph, DSG gearbox wouldn't behave, wouldn't change up or down, shuddering like hell, managed to slow down and tuck in behind the wagon, still juddering, tried manual mode then sports mode no change, got off at the next junction, I had EPC light on and the skidding wheels lamp on if you know what I mean, I limped along for about 10 miles at about 10 to 15 mph, mostly downhill till I arrived at a friends workshop, turned the engine off, had a cup of coffee, turned it back on, appeared to be OK, but I've lost all faith in the car after 7 years , any ideas?

@Locomotive is it the Roomster 1.2 TSI?    No point guessing what it was.  Sounds as if it was the DSG but you need to have it read for fault codes logged if any.  It might not be a fault with the DSG.(Dq200).    It can be as simple as a bad electrical connection that caused the issue.  EPC light is electrical power control.    What age is the car?  How many miles?

EDIT.

Not on a phone now and see 2014 if it is the Roomster.

?

Was Service Campaign '34H5' required and carried out since 2017?

That was a Software Update at no cost and a preventative measure, pressure issues, cracked actuators, casings, MCU leaks.

Did not and does not always show here with a VIN check so main dealer needs to check, if the car was at a maindealers in 2017 or since they should have known it was required.
